It is still straightforward to position on most Northland properties, still connects to power the same way, and still arrives ready to use. Just with a bit more room to breathe.

Minimum rental period is 3 months. The longer you rent, the better the rate.
What Is It Good For?
The extra length makes the 4.8m cabin a more versatile option. Some of the most common uses we see across Northland:
Extended family accommodation Long-term visitors or family members needing their own space will appreciate the extra room. It is comfortable enough to stay in for months, not just a weekend.
Dedicated home office Enough space to set up a proper desk, storage, and still have room to move around. A separate workspace makes for a more focused working day.
Teenager’s retreat Older teenagers especially benefit from the additional floor space. Room for a bed, a desk, and a bit of their own life without taking over the house.
Temporary accommodation If the main house is being renovated or you are waiting on something to come through, the Large Sleepout gives you a liveable space that does not feel like roughing it.
A Few Things to Know
The 4.8m cabin is a dry cabin. It does not include bathroom or kitchen facilities. If you need a self-contained option with a shower, basin, and hot water, take a look at our 6.0m x 2.4m cabin or 7.2m x 2.7m cabin.
No building consent is required in most cases, as the cabin is classified similarly to a caravan. Resource consent may be required depending on your boundary setbacks, so we recommend checking with your local council if you are unsure.
Appliances are not included. You will need to supply your own.
Two weeks notice is required at the end of your rental period.
Site Requirements
Before delivery, it helps to check the following:
- The site should be flat or near level
- At least 3.5 metres of clear space is needed around the cabin
- At least 0.5 metres of clearance above, with no overhanging trees or roof eaves
- The cabin needs to be at least 1.5 metres from the boundary (3 metres in some areas, so check with your council)
- Clear vehicle access is required, as we cannot use a neighbouring property for access
