Self-Contained Cabin Hire Across Northland
A dry sleepout works well for a lot of situations, but sometimes you need more than a room. You need a shower, a kitchen, hot water, and the ability to live completely independently without relying on the main house. That is what our self-contained cabins are built for.
Top End Cabin Rentals offers two self-contained cabin sizes for hire across Northland. Both come with a full bathroom, continuous gas hot water, and kitchen facilities. We deliver them to your property and set them up ready to use.
What Makes a Cabin Self-Contained?
Our self-contained cabins connect to your existing water supply and power, giving you everything you need to live independently on site. Each cabin has a full shower and basin, a continuous gas califont for hot water, a chemical toilet and holding tank, and kitchen facilities. Once it is set up, you are not relying on the main house for anything. If you are looking for a cabin to rent with a bathroom, or a cabin to rent with bathroom and kitchen, these are the options for you.
Who Hires a Self-Contained Cabin?
People come to us from all kinds of situations. The common thread is that they need to live comfortably and independently on a property without a permanent structure in place. The most common reasons people call us:
Living on site during a build Building your own home takes time, and rental costs add up fast. A self-contained cabin on your own land keeps you close to the project and removes the need to pay rent somewhere else while the build drags on. It is one of the most practical uses we see.
Somewhere to be while the house is being renovated Major renovations make a house unliveable for weeks or months at a time. A self-contained cabin in the driveway or on the section keeps you on site without you having to vacate the property entirely.
Housing while you wait Settlement delays, rentals falling through, new builds running late. The Northland housing market throws up situations where people need a comfortable, self-contained place to be for a few months while things sort themselves out.
Accommodation for extended family A self-contained cabin gives family members genuine independence on the property. They have their own kitchen, their own bathroom, and their own front door. That makes longer stays far more comfortable for everyone, and keeps the dynamics of the main house intact.
Worker accommodation on rural properties Farm workers or contractors who need to stay on site benefit from having a proper self-contained space separate from the main house. It keeps things professional and makes extended placements more workable for both parties.
Two Self-Contained Sizes to Choose From
The 6.0m x 2.4m cabin has a full shower and basin, continuous gas hot water, a kitchenette with bench space and storage, and a chemical toilet. It is a practical, comfortable cabin that suits one or two people well. From $230 per week on a 12-month term.
The 7.2m x 2.7m cabin is our largest cabin and the most spacious option we offer. It has the same bathroom facilities as the 6.0m but steps up to a full kitchen with a stove, bench, drawers, cupboards, pantry, and overhead storage. The extra width makes it feel noticeably more like a home. From $255 per week on a 12-month term.
Looking for a Sleepout Without the Bathroom?
If you just need an extra room and do not require bathroom or kitchen facilities, our dry sleepouts are a more affordable option. See our Sleepout Hire page for more detail.
A Few Things to Know Before You Call
Two 9kg gas bottles are required for the califont. Royce can supply these on request, or you can source your own. Kitchen appliances are not included. Water pressure needs to be a minimum of 30kpa with a flow rate of at least 5 litres per minute. Tank water is fine as long as a pressure pump is in use.
No building consent is required in most cases, as our cabins are classified similarly to a caravan. Resource consent may be required depending on your boundary setbacks, so we recommend checking with your local council before delivery. The site needs to be flat or near level, with at least 3.5 metres of clear space around the cabin and a minimum of 1.5 metres from the boundary. Minimum rental period is 3 months across all cabin sizes. Delivery and pick-up start from $150 for local Whangarei deliveries. Ask for a quote for other areas. Two weeks notice is required at the end of your rental period.
